Gunther Muhlestein -Obituary-

Gunther Muhlestein, loved friend and family member, passed away on Sunday, November 20th 2011 peacefully in his sleep at his parents house, Paula and David. Born in March 2001, he was our new friend and family member. Gunther enjoyed many trips to Lake Powell where he chased lizards, fetched empty gatorade bottles by swimming in the lake, as well explored the beautiful red rocks of southern Utah, he enjoyed much of his time. Gunther was well renowned for his tricks including, "sit, lay down, snakey-snakey (where he would crawl on the floor), and Beeeee Carefuuul (where he would very gently take the food away from your hand when offered to him)." His love for table food always made us laugh, sticking his head between your arm and the table as he would patiently wait to hopefully be fed. Gunther was always there to greet you at the door, tail wagging, excited to see you. Gunther was also known for his many nicknames including Stinky Poo Poo Boy, Gumfer, Gum, Gumert, Geemfer, Puffer, Puf, Old Boy, Gunth, Gunthy, G-Boy, Ginker, Bug Eyes, and many others. Gunther enjoyed walk abouts around the neighborhood, neck scratches, belly rubs, chewing off the lids of empty gatorade bottles, scrambled eggs, chicken noodle soup, butter, and sausage mcmuffins from McDonalds. Gunther was a funny boy, because he didn't love everyone. He loved only family, neighborhood girls that would take him on walks, and very specific friends that were over on an almost daily basis, portraying where his true loyalty lied. When he sat or laid by you, he always had to be touching you in some way, whether it be his head on your lap, or paw/leg over your arm. We will also miss him following us around the house, as well as a game called "hide from Gunther," that was created in the summer of 2005 by Michael and Jessica. During the latter years of his life, Gunther started developing tumors all over his body (over 30 of them), and they grew at a rapid pace, thus diminishing his blood supply to his vital organs, including his heart, which lead him to congestive heart failure and his death. Most of all, we will miss him greeting us when we get home on an every day basis, and his love for us. Gunther made it known to those he loved. He will be missed dearly. Gunther is succeeded by his parents Paula and David, brother Nick (Sadie), sister Marci (Dan), cousin Kandice (Mark), brother Michael (Abbie), and sister Jessica (Ryan). We all take great pleasure in knowing we will see him again, and that he is with his old friend Cayenne (schnauzer). I'm sure they're playing tug-0-war with stuffed animals and ripping out all the stuffing.

I am compiling a book of his life. It's so fun going through old pictures of him. You might see random Gunther pictures on my blog as I have to show and share them, including videos.
